Whose Misinformation?

Tuesday October 6, 2009

Kathleen Kilpatrick, Director of the Virginia Department of Historic Resources (DHR), has let it be known to the West Virginia Highlands Conservancy that Brightside Acres is somehow involved in distributing "misinformation."

Brightside Acres takes great care to present only the most accurate information. If this website is in error, we ask Ms. Kilpatrick to write to us so that we may publish a correction immediately.

Apparently, Ms. Kilpatrick is rather irritated that this website published information describing her willingness to "work things out" with Highland New Wind Development (HNWD) and thus avoid a public hearing on October 13.

Brightside Acres will be pleased to publish a statement from Ms. Kilpatrick indicating that no arrangements between DHR and HNWD were made today, October 6, that might preclude or in any way assist the avoidance of a public hearing scheduled by the Virginia State Corporation Commission for October 13.

Brightside Acres believes we speak not just for citizens in West Virginia and Virginia, but for all Americans when we insist that our public servants represent the interests of the people.

One last question: Why would a government official paid to protect historic resources go out of her way to discredit an American citizen trying to see justice done in the protection of a site on the National Register of Historic Places?
