Dancing in September
Golden dreams were shiny days
--September by Earth, Wind and Fire
The month began more sunny than cloudy for Brightside and looks to be our most-successful yet from a revenue standpoint!
Jackson's Mill Jubilee, September 2-4 in Weston, WV, was hot-hot-baby, with temperatures in the mid-nineties and humidity levels to match! Providence smiled upon us, providing us an indoor venue, when we were fully prepared for three days of tenting it on the lawn. Ensconced in the Harrison House with long-time exhibitors, we had a steady stream of patrons seeking relief from the heat and more than willing to sample a cup of cool, rather than our usual hot, herbal tea.
September 10 found us at the Gazebo in downtown Marlinton, WV.
In conjunction with the Pocahontas County Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Smithsonian's traveling exhibition, The Way We Worked, Brightside is conducting three Saturdays of tea sampling, September 10, 17 and October 15.
Our presentation, "Herbal Tea Traditions: Tea as Food and Medicine," focuses on the herbs turn-of-the-last-century women would have had in their kitchen cupboards, just prior to the advent of commercial pharmaceuticals.
We're also looking forward to exhibiting September 24, at Marlinton's Autumn Harvest Festival/Roadkill Cookoff, where we'll continue to bring a taste of the Old World into the New.
